Van Raam produces adapted bicycles, and one of the adapted bicycles types are tricycles. This is an ideal option for people who no longer can ride on a normal two-wheeled bike. And even then, sometimes it’s difficult to find the right bike, especially when you are plus sized. In order to give plus size adults the possibility to cycle again, Van Raam produces tricycles for plus size adults. That means if you are a little overweight, you also have the chance to cycle again and feel the wind in your hair!

The adult tricycle Easy Rider has a special comfortable seat and a low entry that makes cycling very pleasant for the user. Due to the unique frame, it is possible with this bike to choose for a reinforced and / or extended version. The maximum user weight on a "standard" Easy Rider frame is 140 kilograms, but there is the possibility to strengthen the frame of the sitting tricycle to a maximum 180 kilograms.
Furthermore, the Easy Rider has a modern design and is therefore a favorite and popular tricycle among its users. For a lot of users it is very easy to simply ride away with it the first time.

See in the video below how you can ride backwards with pedal support on a heavy duty adapted bike. Due to the unique system is easy to use and has a starting aid that gives you 10 seconds of extra support to get off the ground. This awarded, unique system is characterized by its simple operation, a special and unique feature of the Van Raam system is that you can ride backwards and you also have the possibility to program the assistance individually, adapted to your disability. The Fun2Go side-by-side tandem is a three wheel tandem where users sit next to each other instead of behind each other. One person is the driver that can also hit the break, and both can pedal. Both cyclists can weigh up to 120 kilograms on a standard Fun2Go side-by-side tandem. With the reinforced version of this three wheel tandem, the maximum weight of both cyclists is increased up to 180 kilograms per person.
On this bike the two riders have a good view on their surrounding and can communicate very well with each other. The riders can get on without having to step through and the seats can be easily adjusted. The Fun2Go side by side tandem is enormous manoeuvrable, with two wheels completely in the rear and one front wheel it can be rotated round its own axis. The VeloPlus wheelchair bike for adults gives people in a wheelchair the opportunity to experience cycling. The person in the wheelchair can be transported in their own wheelchair, up to 72 cm wide, on a bicycle. Because there are many different types of wheelchairs, with different weights, it is also possible to get the VeloPlus in a heavy duty version.
On the standard wheelchair bike VeloPlus, the weight of the driver can be up to 110 kilograms and for the passenger (incl. Wheelchair) the weight can be up to 140 kilograms. With the heavy duty version, the front of the bike is stronger and the weight of the passenger (incl. wheelchair) can be up to 200 kilograms.

Leo Kostwinder is 64 years old and lives in Zwolle, the Netherlands. He has diabetes for over 30 years and in early 2016 he was diagnosed with progressive polyneuropathy. Since then he was no longer allowed to drive or cycle. In 2016 he was told that he was no longer allowed to cycle on a regular bike, so he started searching for custom bikes with a reinforced frame.
