Van Raam makes special needs bikes, these bikes are suitable for almost everyone who can no longer cycle (well) on a regular bicycle. A low entry bike is necessary for some people, because they can no longer get on and off their bike properly. Van Raam has the bike with two wheels Balance and the trike Maxi Comfort with a low entry and unique frame in its assortment. Read more about these comfort bikes here.

What is a low entry bike?

A low entry bike is, as the name suggests, a bike with a low entry level. The low entry bikes at Van Raam have besides a low entry also a unique frame. Read more about the two comfort bikes at Van Raam below.

Low entry bike Balance by Van Raam

Balance: comfortable bike with a low entry

The Balance is a unique bike with two wheels. This comfort bike has a unique frame, so you can always have two feet on the ground and you have a very low entry. The ergonomics of the frame is such that the rider can always get on and off easily because of the low entry, but also sits lower and still can make an optimal pedalling movement. You don't sit above the bottom bracket, like with a regular two-wheeler, but behind the crankshaft. This position ensures that you can get on the ground with both feet, while you stay on the saddle.

With the forward pedal movement you cycle easily and comfortably and you use the power of your legs more than with a regular bike.

Why a bike with a low entry?

Can you still keep your balance, but can't ride a regular bike with two wheels? Then the Balance might be a good option. Thanks to the low entry, getting on and off the bike is easy and safe. Because you can get on the ground with both feet, you have a safe and secure feeling when standing still. Your wrists, neck and shoulders are hardly burdened by the Balance, because you have an ergonomic sitting position.

Thanks to the unique Van Raam Silent System, the electric version of the Balance is practically silent and easy to operate. There are three support modes and with the Van Raam E-Bike App you can change your bike settings, send an SOS message to someone close to you and view current bike data, such as distance and battery capacity.

The Balance can also be expanded with other options, such as a mirror, stick holder, special saddle and much more.

Maxi Comfort trike with a low entry

Maxi Comfort: comfortable trike with low entry

Van Raam has a variation on the traditional tricycle. It is important to know that cycling on a trike is very different from cycling on a bike with two wheels. For most people, switching from a regular bike to a tricycle takes some getting used to. In addition to three wheels, the Maxi Comfort tricycle also has a low entry and the unique frame, so you can always get both feet on the ground.

With this type of tricycle you don't have to step on, but you can step over the frame and then pull the bike underneath you and sit on it. You sit behind the crankshaft and make a forward pedal movement. With the Maxi Comfort, your wrists, neck and shoulders are hardly burdened.

Why a trike with a low entry?

When, due to balance problems or the fear of falling, you are no longer able and/or dare to ride a standard bicycle and/or want more support, stability and balance, a tricycle is a good choice. The Maxi Comfort tricycle is stable and safe, with the low entry getting on and off is no problem. With this trike you can always reach the ground with both feet at a stop.

The Maxi Comfort is electrically available. Van Raam's electric pedal support system makes it possible to cycle both forwards and backwards and has a starting aid. The support can be individually programmed so that it adapts to your disability. The Maxi Comfort can also be expanded with other options, such as a walker holder, pedal extension or a foot fixation. Read more about the pedal support and the different options on our options page.
