For the third consecutive year at Van Raam, we see the percentage of adult electrical tricycles with pedal support increase with several tens of percent. More and more people with a disability realize that an electric tricycle increases their mobility and improves their condition.

With 22 million bicycles, the Netherlands is the biggest bike-country in the world. 84% of all Dutchmen owns one or even multiple bikes. We bike everywhere for work, school, grocery shopping etc. and to enjoy nature. Some are not able to ride a regular bicycle, perhaps due to balance problems. A tricycle enables you to continue cycling. What is the difference between a tricycle and a bike with two wheels? Who ride these tricycles & what types of tricycles do we have available? You will read it in this article.
Egbert-Jan Ruijs from Barchem (the Netherlands) shared the story of how he went bicycling, suddenly blacked out and fell on from his bike, with the Telegraaf (Dutch newspaper). After extensive examination Mr. Ruijs turned out to have a tumor in his brain.
Many people who can no longer cycle on a regular bicycle are looking for a good and safe alternative. The thought that first comes to mind is a traditional tricycle for adults. Many people visit the Van Raam showroom by appointment to experience if such a tricycle is suitable for them. Often they eventually decide to choose a different custom made bicycle than they initially had in mind. We therefore like to discuss the characteristics of the different types of tricycles.
Despite her irreparable hip problems, Gunda Grauss of 72 tested the electric tricycle for adults, the Easy Rider of Van Raam. In the summer of 2009 Mrs. Krauss cycles form Munich to Rügen. In less then 50 days she traveled 1262 kilometers away on this special tricycle from Van Raam. The unique design of this special needs bike made this trip very pleasant.
Last years, several 'super users' of the Easy Rider, one of Van Raam's adult tricycles, have made long bike rides.
