The National Association De Zonnebloem is dedicated to people with physical disabilities. They do this by offering outings and vacations where people with physical disabilities can participate without worries. They also use the adapted bikes from vanRaam, known as the 'Zonnebloemfiets' for this purpose.
The Zonnebloemfiets
The Zonnebloemfiets (Zonnebloem bicycle) is an electric bicycle by vanRaam that provides people with mobility limitations the opportunity to go on a bike ride with a volunteer, friend, or family member. The Zonnebloem offers four different models:
VeloPlus wheelchair transport bike
OPair wheelchair bike
Fun2Go side-by-side tandem
Chat rickshaw bike
Availability of Zonnebloemfiets
The Zonnebloemfiets is currently available at nearly 60 locations in the Netherlands. These bikes are provided through local branches in collaboration with distribution points. You can check on the Zonnebloem's website which bike is available for rent and where. Anyone with a disability, regardless of whether they are a member of a Zonnebloem branch, can make use of this service. There is a small fee for using the bike. Customer experience with the Zonnebloemfiets VeloPlus
Zonnebloem branch Maasduinen owns the vanRaam VeloPlus wheelchair transport bike. Together with wheelchair user Bep and volunteer Pierre, we created a customer experience video in which Bep explains why a Zonnebloemfiets is important to her. 'The bike has given me back my freedom. I can once again enjoy nature and feel the wind through my hair.'
