Unique riding characteristics of the Van Raam Twinny
On the Twinny, you sit behind each other. The main rider of the Twinny tandem steers and brakes. See the 7 unique riding characteristics of this tandem below.
1. Low step through for both persons
Thanks to the low, accessible step trough, getting on and off the Twinny is easy. You hardly need to lift your leg when getting on the saddle.

2. Extra space between both persons
There is more space between both seats on the Twinny than on the average tandem. More space has been created between the saddle of the front person and the steering wheel of the co-rider. Getting on and off the bike is therefore easy.
Did you know?
That you can optionally choose for a double transfer kickstand? This gives you more stability when the co-rider gets on the Twinny. The co-rider can sit on the saddle without having to support the tandem.
3. High seating position
Both riders have a high seating position on the Twinny tandem, which gives them a good overview of the road and the surroundings. This contributes to a safe bike ride.
4. Choice of front, or rear steering
The Twinny tandem has standard front steering, which means that the person in front of the tandem is the only one who can steer and brake. The Twinny tandem also offers rear steering, which means that the person sitting at the back of the tandem can control the tandem. With rear steering, it is important that the person in front is smaller, otherwise it is difficult for the main rider at the back to have a good overview.
5. Optionally available in a divisible version
It is possible to choose for a divisible Twinny tandem. This means you can easily divide the tandem in two, which makes the transport and storage easier. Read more about dividing a Twinny tandem in the article 'Folding Tandem bike by Van Raam'.
6. Choice if co-rider should cycle along
With the Twinny tandem it is possible to choose for a switchable freewheel, with this freewheel the main rider can influence the way the co-rider cycles. The main rider can choose between 2 modes:
This is a function with a continuous movement of the pedal and the co-rider must pedal along.
The pedals of the co-rider move independently of the pedals of the main rider. The pedals run freely and the co-rider cannot cycle.

7. Pedal support available
The Twinny tandem can optionally be made into a tandem e-bike. Van Raam has developed its own pedal support system for the special needs bikes: the Silent System. The advantages of a Van Raam tandem e-bike:

Do you choose a Twinny tandem e-bike? Then you'll receive a smart e-bike. This means that your tandem e-bike is connected to the internet and that you can view information about your bike on the Van Raam app on your phone. This app can be downloaded for free in the app store of your smartphone and can be used as a luxury bike computer.

During the test ride you will be assisted by one of our advisors, ride on the test track and receive a tailor made offer that you can use to order the tandem at a Van Raam dealer.
