Three tricycle tandems by Van Raam in comparison
At Van Raam we make bicycles for, people with a disability and people who can no longer ride a bicycle. Our assortment also includes various types of tandems and tricycle tandems, each bicycle has its own special features and advantages. What is a tricycle tandem?
A tricycle tandem is a bicycle which is suitable for two or more people sitting behind or next to each other and is equipped with three wheels. Twinny Plus 3 wheel tandem bike
The Twinny Plus is an adult tandem, it looks the same as the Twinny bicycle tandem with the difference that it has two rear wheels instead of one. The Twinny Plus tandem tricycle for adults from Van Raam is ideal for cycling together. Climbing up and down is easy with the Twinny Plus tricycle tandem, as it has a spacious, deep entrance.
Also, the three wheels provide extra stability and in conjunction with the parking brake, the bike does not roll forwards or backwards when you get on and off.The tandem has left plenty of space between the saddle of the front cyclist and the handlebars of the rear cyclist, so that you don't sit too close behind each other.
You can also choose how you want to cycle together, e.g. with the switchable disengagement hub you can move your feet independently. On the product page you can see the price list, further specifications and also which options are available.
Kivo Plus 3 wheel tandem bike
The Kivo Plus is a parent-child tricycle tandem for one adult person sitting in the back and one child sitting in the front. This way the child has a good view of the surroundings. The rider always has a good view onthe child from behind. The Kivo Plus tricycle tandem from Van Raam is ideal for enjoying a cycling tour together. It looks the same as the Kivo two-wheeled tandem with the difference that it has two rear wheels instead of one. Ascending and descending is easy with the Kivo Plus tandem due to the spacious, low entry.
Also, the three wheels provide extra stability and in conjunction with the parking brake, the bike does not roll forwards or backwards when you get on and off.

Fun2Go 3 wheel tandem bike
The Fun2Go is a side by side tricycle tandem where you cycle side by side rather than behind each other. This is of course much more comfortable, and it offers both of them a good view and the possibility to have a good conversation. With the optional disengagement hub, the rider of the Fun2Go can decide whether the passenger should pedal (possibly mandatory). The Fun2Go has gears on the rider's side and with the switchable freewheel hub on the passenger's side, you can determine how you want to cycle together based on three positions.
The riders can also get on the bike without having to step on it and the seats can be easily and continuously adjusted to the desired seat spacing with a lever.

Why a tandem? Riding a tandem is healthy!
Riding a tandem is very healthy. You can while cycling:
- Communicate well with each other
- Benefit from movement and
- They're out in the fresh air
The different tandems are also used as therapeutic bikes, because in addition to healthy exercise there is also intensive interpersonal contact. The combination of movement and social contact has various positive effects on the well-being of the passenger. The Van Raam tandems are used for a wide range of disabilities, such as visual, physical or mental limitations. This means that disabled people can participate in traffic despite their disability.
Electric tandem tricycle
The tandems are also available with electric pedal support. In the case of an electric tandem tricycle, the bicycle also has an individual pedal assistance, which offers very good support and has a wide range of possible uses. The pedal assistance can be operated via the display on the handlebars. This display has an on/off button, three assistance modes and a starting aid. With the jump start, the motor gives you extra support for a few seconds, so that you can easily start cycling from a standstill. A unique feature of the Van Raam pedal assist is that it is possible to ride backwards when the assist is on. Fun2Go 1 side by side tandem test winner
The Norwegian government tested duo bikes in one of the categories. Among other things, the reliability of the bicycle and the individual adaptation to the conditions were evaluated, but also the accessories used on the bicycle, the user-friendliness and, in addition to the design of the bicycles, the overall impression. Together on a wheelchair bicycle
Occasionally it is unfortunately not possible (anymore) for people to ride a bicycle and to step into the perdale themselves. However, we would like to make the experience of a bicycle tour possible for everyone. That's why we at Van Raam have various models where you can ride a bicycle with another person and the passenger does not have to pedal.
