Van Raam produces uniquely special needs bicycles and specializes in tricycles, transport bikes, scooterbikes, wheelchair bikes, tandem bikes, double rider bikes, and low step trough bikes (also known as comfortbikes). Each model is also available as an electric bike (Pedelec).

Three residential care homes in Zwolle (in the eastern part of the Netherlands) received a wheelchair bicycle at the end of April 2018. This wheelchair transport bike VeloPlus was sponsored by the municipality of Zwolle, among others. A City Council Member was present at the festive delivery, where the bike was tested by a resident of one of the centers.
The construction of Van Raam’s new premises has started and you can stay updated through a photo report. Next to the actual construction activities important decisions are made by Van Raam’s team of managers. Every week staff meetings are held to discuss all matters of the construction.
Van Raam has moved! From January 2019 Van Raam can be found at the Guldenweg 23 in Varsseveld. All Van Raam bicycles are produced in a new, modern factory. The new company building is 13,500 m2 and besides the production of the adaptive bicycles there is also a large showroom where you can make a test ride by appointment. On these pages you can view photos of the construction process of the new premises.
All of Van Raam’s bicycles are manufactured to order and can be equipped with various features and accessories. Sometimes Van Raam does not have a suitable bicycle for one of its customers and so a special custom made bicycle is designed and manufactured.
Late March Lilian van Zandbrink visited Van Raam together with her mother. Her mother’s freedom of movement has been becoming more and more limited, which is why she went on the look for a special needs bicycle. She tried 3 different bicycles in our showroom and the Easy Rider tricycle was the best fit for her. Lilian wrote a blog post about her experience at Van Raam.
Our bikes are sold through a dealer or local bicycle shop, you cannot buy a bicycle directly from Van Raam. The dealer orders the bike from us and also provides delivery, service and warranty. Van Raam bicycles are produced in the Netherlands, but the bikes are available in almost all of Europe. Recently we have a new dealer in Scotland, Wheels Cycling Center from Callander.
In January 2019 Van Raam moved into the new company building at Guldenweg 23 in Varsseveld. Meanwhile, Van Raam has continued to grow and is short of space in the current building. Therefore, Van Raam has build a new building, located directly next to the large commercial building. The building was ready in early 2022. At the end of this year (2018) /start of next year (2019) we will move with the entire company to a different location in Varsseveld, the Netherlands. The new building of Van Raam, with a size of approximately 13,500 m2, is designed by ERS Architekten bna from Terborg (the Netherlands) and will be built on a plot of 25,000 m2.
As a producer of special needs bicycles, all Van Raam bicycles are produced in our own factory in Varsseveld. One of the advantages of this is that we can develop the bike completely to the customer's wishes. Every Van Raam bicycle can be equipped with a lot of options to make the bike suitable. If this is not enough, frame adjustments are possible or we make larger adjustments and we tailor the bike completely. For example, we recently made a special Easy Rider Small tricycle for Tim.
In 2009, the then 70-year-old Gunda Krauss from Germany cycled on her three-wheeled bicycle Easy Rider from Munich to Rügen. This trip was more than 1200 kilometers and together with her dog Sauser, this trip took 49 days. For several years, Gunda has been working to write a book about this adventurous journey. With the help of crowdfunding, Gunda hopes to raise money so that is possible to release her book in the summer of 2018.
