Cycling with Parkinson's disease

Every year, on April 11th, people pay extra attention to Parkinson's disease during World Parkinson's Day. April 11th is the birthday of James Parkinson, he discovered this brain disorder in 1817. Parkinson's disease is a brain disease. The symptoms of Parkinson's disease are different for each patient, but in general the most common symptoms are: trembling, stiffness, fatigue, slower movement, difficulty in moving and talking. These symptoms make it increasingly difficult for patients to stay mobile and independent. With your special needs bike you can make a bike ride in your own area. Sometimes you also want to cycle in a different environment or other country, which is too far to cycle. With a custom trailer or roof-top carrier for special needs bicycles, mounted on your car, you can take your bike with you. At vanRaam we do not have trailers or roof-top carriers in our assortment. Jimmy Gustafson has a wheelchair taxi service in the town of Porvoo, Finland. With the Van Raam VeloPlus wheelchair transport bike they cycle 5 days a week from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. and they transport 4 to 8 people on a day, these are mainly elderly people.
