Van Raam wins the Gelderland Factory of the Future price

30 companies from Gelderland have signed up for a tender for the Gelderland Factory of the Future. The 7 Gelderland companies that receive € 200,000 from the province of Gelderland were announced. One of the winners is Van Raam with the new bicycle factory.

Factory of the Future

The province of Gelderland (the Netherlands) wants to help companies to make the step towards Industry 4.0: "a smart and clean industry in which waste is the new raw material. Remove the chimney from the factories and put 3D printers and robots in it," says Michiel Scheffer.

Companies with construction plans were able to use a tender arrangement to organize the company in a smarter and cleaner way from May 1st until September 1st, 2018. A subsidy of up to € 200,000 was made available for the best initiatives.

With the Tender Smart and Clean demonstration plants, Gelderland has been looking for beautiful examples for the factory of the future. These examples should inspire (SME)-companies to set up their factory in a smarter and cleaner way and show young people that the industry can offer a modern working environment.

The submitted proposals have received points in the categories 'smarter' (digitization, according to criteria of the national project agency Smart Industry), 'cleaner' (energy efficiency and circularity, according to existing performance ladders and standards) and 'knowledge sharing' (how to reach sister companies , for example with guided tours or an open house).

More than 30 companies with new construction or expansion plans registered on the tender of the province of Gelderland.

Van Raam became 1 of the 7 winners and receives financial support from the province for the development of the new bicycle factory in Varsseveld. Van Raam is building a smart and clean bicycle factory that provides its own energy. Robotisation prevents production errors and keeps stocks up to standard.

Currently we are still working hard on building our new company building + factory where we produce special needs bicycles. You can find all the information about the new building on the special Van Raam construction page.

The other winners are:

  • Claymount (Dinxperlo): smart assembly

  • Bosch (Kootwijkerbroek): sustainable concrete factory

  • Doeko (Weurt): robot-controlled production

  • Reesink (Hengelo): smart & clean production

  • Spiering (Nijmegen): factory that runs on self-generated energy

  • Ulamo Coating (Ulft): online quotation system for coating of products
