Welcoming the guests

At 13.30 hour, the guests were welcomed by the directors of Van Raam, Marjolein Boezel, Jan-Willem Boezel and Ronald Ruesink, in the canteen of the bike factory.

When everyone was present, the program started. Ronald welcomed everyone and briefly told them about the history of Van Raam, the company's relocations and how the current directors have taken over the wheel from their father and father-in-law, Piet Boezel.

When Ronald's speech was finished, all visitors were asked to walk to the showroom where the rest of the surprising program took place.

In the showroom at Van Raam

In addition to the guests, all Van Raam employees were invited to come to the showroom to attend the official opening.

When everyone was gathered in the showroom, the mayor of the municipality of Oude-IJsselstreek, Mr. Otwin van Dijk, spoke to all attendees. The mayor said in his speech that he is a proud mayor because a company like Van Raam is located in this region. He also called Van Raam an innovative and meaningful company for many people.

“All Van Raam employees are proud to work for a company like this.”

Gift from the Van Raam employees

After the mayor, Marnix Kwant, Marketing & Sales Manager at Van Raam, spoke to the directors on behalf of all employees. The Van Raam employees offered the directors an engraved stone as a gift for the new bicycle factory. This stone is attached to the ground next to the main entrance. However, everyone was kept in suspense, because the revealing of the stone took place at a later moment of the official opening.

At Van Raam, everything always goes slightly differently than usual. For this reason, no regular speaker was invited, but cabaret artist Thijs Kemperink was invited to speak to all attendees with a lot of humour. Tips for new possibilities with the duo bike Fun2Go and regional traditions and habits that were examined, everything came up in Thijs' show.

Finally, the long-awaited moment had arrived: Thijs invited Jan-Willem, Ronald, Marjolein and Joke Boezel to sit on a decorated FunTrain duo bike with trailer and to cycle outside with the bike through the ribbon under the music of Queen's 'Bicycles'. Cheering and applauding, everyone followed the directors outside where the gift from the employees was revealed and then everyone toasted to the new building with bubbles.

Tour in the bicycle factory

After this festive moment, all employees went back to work and the other guests were given an extensive tour through the factory.

When the tour was over, this group gathered again in the showroom for a drink and the festive opening of the building was over.
