The Van Raam Fun2Go side-by-side tandem bike has been updated on May 1st, 2023. The duo bike has been improved in many ways, including the drive system. Read more about the drive system of the Fun2Go in this article.
The Fun2Go side-bys-de tandem bike comes with 8 gears as standard for both the driver and the passenger. This means that the passenger will be able to ride in the same gear as the driver of the side-by-side tandem bike. Previously, only the driver had 8 gears while the passenger rode in a fixed gear.
The Van Raam Fun2Go offers various optional drive possibilities. In the standard Fun2Go, both the driver and the passenger ride in the same gear using a shared 8-speed hub. It is optional to choose a double 8-speed hub, which allows the driver and the passenger to independently choose their own gear.
With the optional shift hub, the main driver can set the way the passenger pedals. The shift hub has three modes:
Mode A: With the 8-speed hub, the passenger and the driver pedal in the same gear.
Off mode: With the freewheel hub, the passenger can pedal independently of the driver or keep their feet still on the pedals. The passenger has complete freewheel, so they do not contribute to the drive of the bike.
Mode B: The passenger has a fixed gear in which they pedal. This is called the co-pedal mode.
Note: The shift hub can only be operated when the tandem bike is stationary.
The shift hub is widely used to have the option of whether a passenger should pedal, can pedal, or cannot pedal. This option is particularly useful when you occasionally want to 'force'the passenger to pedal.
