1. Why did Krikke Driewielfietsen become a vanRaam premium dealer?

The beginning

“Klaas Krikke has been the owner of Krikke Driewielfietsen since it was founded in 2015. He used to work at ProRail, but ten years ago he had to choose a different path for health reasons. Through a friend who was a bicycle mechanic, he decided to focus on selling tricycles. The first bike was sold from the shed at his home. This left him wanting more, and soon more bikes were sold from an old chicken shed. At first, it was still just a hobby, but it eventually grew into a family business.”

The team

“Owner Klaas is at the helm of the specialist tricycle shop and, through his purchasing, ensures there is always enough stock in the showroom. Five years ago, his daughter Manouk Krikke (32) left her job in the hotel industry and now makes sure everything in the company runs smoothly. She is the first point of contact in the office and manages the day-to-day operations. Her mother, Jacqueline (59), is the hostess and supervises the tricycle lessons. With her endless patience, she is the perfect person for this role. Younger brother Wessel (29) is a mechanic/driver. Family friend Stijn is also a mechanic. Ton is retired and, as a part-time driver, enjoys making people happy with a new bike! And last but not least, let’s not forget our Casper: the engine of the workshop.”

2. How do you help customers looking for a vanRaam bike?

Test ride

“Our ability to offer a test ride makes us unique. Throughout the year, we provide our customers with a test ride on our own indoor practice track. This ensures that those first few metres are always made safely. The practice track is equipped with speed bumps and start/stop tests, among other things. Afterwards, we often go for a ride outside as well. We also offer cycling lessons for people who already own a tricycle but are still feeling uncertain. With our team, we ensure that apprehension turns into confidence! This way, we make sure that everyone who visits us will soon be able to confidently and safely hit the road, even in busy traffic.

During the test ride, all sorts of options and accessories are also available. We discuss this when making the appointment, allowing us to filter as effectively as possible what the customer needs for the test ride. If, unexpectedly, other options or accessories are required, most adjustments can be fitted immediately. There is always a mechanic present. These could be options such as footrests, one-sided operation, or changing a saddle/seat.”

The purchase process

“When a customer comes to us for a test ride, we first spend a good hour together to determine which bike is the best fit for them. Sometimes, the customer goes home first to let everything sink in; after all, it's a big decision. We always provide them with a detailed quotation and a report of the day. This report details, for instance, everything that was tested, what went well, and what proved more challenging, etc. When the customer is ready to buy a bike, we can process the quotation straight away. We often meet again at our regulars' table. We go over everything one last time over a cup of coffee and then order the bike. At Krikke Driewielfietsen, nothing is rushed.

Most vanRaam bikes are available from stock with us, but if that’s not the case, we contact the customer as soon as the bike arrives. We immediately schedule a delivery appointment. The bike then goes into our workshop for a full inspection by our mechanics. Only after that is the bike delivered anywhere in the country with one of our vans. Our driver is fully informed about the bike’s settings and all other relevant details. During delivery, we go through everything with the customer and make sure they can put their bike in the shed with complete peace of mind. After delivery, there is often a follow-up moment: how are things going now?”

3. How does Krikke Driewielfietsen assist customers who already own a vanRaam bike?

“All customers are welcome. Our mechanics have the expertise to get even older vanRaam bikes fully operational again, wherever possible. Our own customers get priority regarding waiting times, but everyone is very welcome! Furthermore, with our service vans, we provide home service and warranty repairs. This can be arranged by appointment, nationwide.”

4. What is your best customer experience with a vanRaam bike?

“Actually, every story has its own charm, because most customers come to us for their first tricycle or cycling lesson. They often arrive feeling a bit sad or nervous. That’s nothing to be ashamed of, it’s just the truth. But if, at the end of our time together, we see the customer beaming and smiling on their bike, it really makes our whole day.”

“Krikke Driewielfietsen is a family business (father, mother, daughter, son, and a neighbour). This means our team works together extremely well. The colleagues who aren’t actually family still feel like family, and that’s our strength! Honesty, patience, respect, and helpfulness are extremely important to us, and we hope our customers feel this too.”
