The right posture on the Easy Rider tricycle

Before you start cycling with the Van Raam Easy Rider, it is important that you find the right posture. The adult tricycle can be adjusted to suit you at three points:

  1. The distance of the seat
  2. The angle of the backrest
  3. The handlebars, which can also be adjusted at these points.

In the following we will explain all three points and how you can adjust them correctly so that cycling becomes even easier as well as more comfortable and your overall cycling comfort increases.

Adjusting the Easy Rider tricycle seat

You can easily move the seat in three simple steps (this can be seen at minute 0:56 in the video):

  1. Open the quick release lever.
  2. Move the seat to the correct position.
  3. Close the quick-release lever.

Tipp: The rule of thumb

The rule of thumb for adjusting the seat position is as follows. The rider sits on the bicycle and places one foot on the pedal in the position furthest away from the rider. Adjust the seat position so that the leg is extended but still relaxed in this situation. You determine the most comfortable position yourself in practice.

  1. Adjusting the stem angle
  2. Adjusting the tilt of the handlebars
  3. Adjust the handlebar height

Adjusting the handlebar and stem

The handlebars can be tilted. This affects the distance between the handlebars and the upper body. In practice, you determine the most comfortable position yourself.

To tilt the handlebars (this can be seen at minute 2:01 in the video).:

  1. Press and hold the button on the side of the handlebar stem to unlock the lever.
  2. Open the upper part of the steering shaft by lifting the lever.
  3. Move the handlebar and stem to the desired position and close the upper part of the handlebar stem.

Adjusting the height of the Easy Rider handlebars

The height of the handlebars influences riding comfort. It determines the pressure on the hands and the posture of the back. You determine the most comfortable position yourself in practice.

This is how you adjust the handlebar height individually for yourself (this can be seen at minute 3:05 in the video):

  1. Loosen the screws of the parking brake clamp by a few turns.
  2. Open the lever on the handlebar and set it to the lowest position. See the explanation "Adjusting handlebars and stem'" for more information.
  3. By tilting the handlebar downwards you can reach the hexagon socket screw.
  4. Loosen the screw a few turns with an Allen key.
  5. Slide the handlebar stem to the correct height and then retighten the screw.

Attention! Do not pull out the handlebar stem further than the marking!

Finally, also retighten the screws of the parking brake clamp. Make sure that the parking brake clamp is always connected to the handlebar tube.

Extra tip: Then check that the handlebars and the wheel are in line.
