Customer experience Easy Rider tricycle – Willem Philipsen
Willem became partially paralysed on one side in 2007 due to a stroke. Since 2009, he has been cycling on an Easy Rider tricycle, and since January 2025, he has a new one. Read more about Willem's experience here.
A New Easy Rider
"I am Willem, 41 years old, and I live with Annelies in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I love walking, having drinks, attending concerts, and exploring nature. In 2007, I became partially paralysed on one side due to a stroke, which made cycling on a regular two-wheeled bike no longer an option. Since 2009, I've been riding an Easy Rider tricycle, and the one I currently use I've had since January 2025.
The tricycle suits me perfectly! I find that thanks to the convenience of the pedal assist, I am more inclined to take the bike, even for longer distances that I previously covered by public transport. I use the Easy Rider for almost everything: commuting, visiting friends, leisurely rides, etc. I once took the tricycle on the train to Woerden and enjoyed cycling through nature there. I'm not exactly sure how many kilometres I've cycled with the new tricycle, but definitely over 100 kilometres!"
Ordering the Tricycle
"I got my Easy Rider through the Wmo (Social Support Act). During my rehabilitation, a representative from Van Raam visited with an Easy Rider, and it was love at first sight! To ensure the bike met my needs, I have foot fixation on the left, a stick holder, and a mirror. In the end, I had to wait about 6-8 weeks for my bike, and the delivery went smoothly. I rate the Easy Rider tricycle a 9.5 out of 10!"
