This way, every ride becomes more than just a bike trip, it becomes a valuable moment for both the guest and the volunteer.”

“Our technical expert, Hans Kupers, ensures that the bikes are always in good condition and ready for guests and volunteers. He believes that the Fun2Go offers several very comfortable features, such as:

• Electric pedal assistance with three levels, and eight gears;

• A start button that allows you to start moving from a standstill up to 6 km/h without pedaling;

• The ability to pedal backward from your seat by moving the pedals backward;

• The fact that the passenger can pedal along if they want to, but it’s not required.

The bikes also have several strong safety features: a rotatable seat for the passenger to make getting on and off easier; foot fixation or footrest for guests with limited coordination; a safety belt and rearview mirrors; and a holder for carrying a walking stick or crutch. A bracket to carry a rollator is still on the wish list. All of this is possible.”

Technology and Considerations

“The duo bike is equipped with disc brakes all around, ensuring excellent braking performance, and has a very tight turning circle, making it easy to turn around on bike paths. With a width of 113 cm, the bike is compact enough to pass between most posts on cycling paths.

However, according to Hans, there are a few minor drawbacks and areas for improvement. For example, adjusting the passenger’s seat is maintenance-intensive: it needs regular cleaning and lubrication. Also, the underside of the differential could benefit from a protective cover to prevent malfunctions caused by dirt from the road.

In his assessment, Hans gives the bikes a rating of 8 out of 10.”
