King’s Day 2025: Van Raam Leads the Way for the King

King’s Day 2025 in the Netherlands was one for the books. In a festive parade full of Dutch pride, innovation, and togetherness, Van Raam showed why cycling truly is for everyone.

Van Raam at the Front of the Parade

As the bicycle manufacturer from the Achterhoek region, Van Raam naturally had to be part of this special day. In a colourful procession of regional vehicles, several Van Raam bikes led the way—right in front of the bus carrying King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima, and their daughters. This special position allowed us to showcase not only what we make, but more importantly, why we do it: cycling is freedom—and that freedom should be accessible to everyone.

Our adapted bikes, such as the VeloPlus wheelchair bike and the Chat rickshaw bike, made a big impression along the route. Thanks to these bikes, people who rely on a wheelchair or have limited mobility can still feel the wind in their hair. Cycling together becomes possible again—even for those for whom it’s not a given.

The popular Fun2Go side-by-side tandem also took part in the festive parade. Two people, side by side on one bike, pedalling and laughing through the streets of Doetinchem. The crowd saw not just a fun bike, but a symbol of connection, enjoyment, and accessibility.

The Showstopper: The DJ Bike

An absolute eye-catcher was the DJ bike. Specially built for this occasion—with custom-designed and 3D-printed parts from our own (ideas) factory—the moving stage brought music and energy to the parade. Later in the day, the bike was transformed into a gift bike, used to transport presents for the royal couple. A creative and festive twist, entirely in Van Raam style.

Special Fun2Go Brings a City to Life

At the end of the route, a specially prepared Fun2Go tandem appeared, which, together with several other bikes, impressively “raised” a city. This unique display formed the grand finale of the parade and immediately captured the audience’s attention. The symbolism of cycling together towards the future was given a royal touch.

More Than a Bike – A Mission

On King’s Day, Van Raam showed not only what we make, but above all, why we do it. We build bikes that get people moving—both literally and figuratively. When cycling is no longer a given, we focus on what is still possible. Under the motto “Let’s all cycle!” we work towards a world where everyone can participate. With custom solutions, innovation, and the down-to-earth mentality of the Achterhoek, we build our bikes in one of the most modern bicycle factories in Europe—right in Varsseveld.

Proud of Our Region and the Royal Family

The presence of the royal family made this day extra special. For Van Raam, it wasn’t the first time we’ve been connected to the royal household. Not only did King Willem-Alexander once ride a Van Raam tandem with his daughters, but in 2020, Van Raam was also a finalist for the prestigious King Willem I Award, presented by Queen Máxima. King Willem-Alexander has also ridden the Fun2Go tandem several times and once made an elderly lady burst out laughing with joy on the VeloPlus wheelchair bike.

A King’s Day to Remember

King’s Day 2025 in Doetinchem was a day full of connection, movement, and above all: joy. Van Raam showed what we stand for: making cycling accessible to everyone. And how wonderful is it to do that—for and with the royal family in the front row?
