The Balance 2 is the second generation of this unique low entry bike. Wondering what the biggest differences are between this bike and its forerunner? Check out the 5 biggest differences between the Balance 1 and the Balance 2 here.

5 biggest differences between the Van Raam Balance 2 and Balance 1

The Balance 2 has a number of changes compared to its previous version. Check out the five biggest differences below.

Left: Balance 1, Right: Balance 2

1. Entry

The Balance 1 has a low entry-level, but the Balance 2 has a very low entry-level. This makes getting on and off the Balance very easy. You hardly need to lift your leg at all.

2. Design

The Balance 2 has a more modern and fresh design, compared to the Balance 1. The frame of the Balance 2 has a tighter look.

There are also more matte black accents on the Balance 2, such as the mudguards (which are also wider), the front fork and the luggage carrier (which also has an updated look). On the Balance 1, these parts have silver colours.

The Balance 2 also has new decals and logos on the frame. These are the stickers on the tube under the saddle, the large 'Van Raam' sticker and the emblem on the front of the steering head.

3. Lock

The lock on the Balance 2 is on the rear wheel, making it easy to lock the bike. On the Balance 1, the lock is at the front wheel.

4. Chain guard

The Balance 2's chain guard is injection-moulded instead of the Balance 1's vacuum-formed chain guard. This injection-moulded material is strong, long-lasting and less likely to discolour.

5. Frame colour

The Balance 2 has different standard and optional frame colours than the Balance 1. The colours for the Balance 2 are as follows:

  • Standard: (RAL 5008) Grey blue matt
  • Option 1 (for an additional charge): (RAL 1015) Light ivory matt
  • Option 2 (for an additional charge): (RAL 3001) Signal red

It is also possible to have the Balance powder coated in a colour of your choice (from the available colours) for an additional charge.

The Balance 1 has the standard colour (RAL 9005) Jet black matt. In addition, two optional colours were available (including (RAL 3001) Signal red, just like the Balance 2) and it was also possible to have this model powder coated in a colour of your choice.
