Since getting her Van Raam walking bike City, Chantal can do anything again. She has her freedom and energy back. Read her experience with the City here.
"As a relatively young woman (44 years old), it is quite a step to start using a walking bike. Still, I was tired of not being able to join walks, or feeling miserable when shopping or visiting museums.
The walking bike City did take some getting used to (step 1: a softer saddle!) and it takes some time to find the right adjustment. Besides, it asks quite something of your abdominal muscles, so it is also building up."
"But I am able to do all sorts of things again! Walking at home or when on holiday, shopping with the family, walking around the block on a nice summer evening. I have applied 'disabled person’s vehicle' stickers myself, because the average security guard in shops or museums does not see that it is not an ordinary folding bike."
"I am stared at or approached every day by people who have never seen one before and suddenly see possibilities. And by toddlers, who do not understand how it is possible for a 'big person' to ride a bike like them. I lovingly promote this walking bike, which has given me back my freedom and energy! I move more and it takes less strength and I have less pain."
"Personally, I would prefer black straps to the old-fashioned mobility scooter straps, and if the handlebars were also foldable, it would be much more compact to carry. For daily use, by the way, I can easily slide it in front of the back seat of the car."
