Customer experience Easy Rider tricycle - Harry ter Hart
In October 2023, I had a brain haemorrhage. I no longer felt safe getting on and off a bike or reacting quickly in traffic. Since January 2025, I've had the vanRaam Easy Rider tricycle. Now I can get out and about with my wife again!
Introduction
“My name is Harry. I’m 79 years old and I’ve been married to my wife, Lucy, for 56 years. We’ve also been living in Terborg, the Netherlands, for 56 years. I love technology, reading and, of course, cycling.
In October 2023, I had a brain haemorrhage. As a result, I have weakness on my right side. I’ve recovered well, but I no longer feel safe on a traditional bicycle. I find getting on and off particularly difficult when I need to react quickly in traffic. I used to say: if anything ever happens to me, I’ll get one of those bikes!”
My motto is: don’t just sit by the window, get out and about on a vanRaam!
My Easy Rider tricycle
“Since 31 January 2025, I’ve had the vanRaam Easy Rider tricycle. My wife and I are cycling together a lot again now, which is wonderful. I use my tricycle for everything: my daily ride, small errands, visiting family, you name it. Altogether, I’ve already cycled 1,000 kilometres.
I can’t sit indoors all day, I need to get out and about. It gives me peace of mind. My motto is: don’t just sit by the window, get out and about on a vanRaam!
My Easy Rider has a mirror and an armrest. I really like the fact that you can always stay seated, so you always have a place to take a break. The starting aid and reverse function are also very handy.
What I always find funny is this: when my tricycle is parked among other bikes, people think, ‘How’s he going to manage that?’ Then, when I get on, they often want to help me get out. I say, ‘I’ll be fine, thanks!’ I just reverse out and off I go. They’re always quite amazed.”
Test ride and purchase
“I visited the vanRaam website many times and looked at several models. Afterwards, I made an appointment for a test ride at the Varsseveld location. Resi gave me very friendly, helpful advice there.
I then got in touch with vanRaam dealer Walraven. They also provided really good, friendly service and explanation. I bought a pre-owned Easy Rider, which meant I didn’t have to wait long. After a service, Walraven delivered the bike to my home. I’m absolutely delighted with the tricycle, I’d give the Easy Rider a 10 out of 10!”
