Customer experience Easy Rider Compact tricycle – Susie

Born with VACTERL, Susie discovered newfound freedom and independence with the Van Raam Easy Rider Compact three wheel cycle, enhancing her quality of life.
Susie’s Journey with VACTERL and Cycling
Born with a rare condition called VACTERL, Susie Bannister never had the opportunity to learn how to ride a bike as a child. However, as an adult, she began researching and eventually started volunteering for a charity named Wheels for Wellbeing, which offers cycling opportunities to individuals with disabilities. Through this charity, she was given the opportunity to borrow a Van Raam Easy Rider Compact tricycle for a couple of months.
Improvement of Physical and Mental Well-being
Susie: "The Van Raam Easy Rider Compact is a three wheel cycle, and it's incredibly easy for me to get on and off. The tricycle is small enough to use for shopping or to travel on public transport in London. Being able to use a tricycle has truly changed my life; I can take it anywhere with me. The fact that it’s electric and the gears are easy to adjust makes it highly accessible for me. When I ride the Easy Rider Compact tricycle, it gives me more independence and reduces my reliance on others. The three wheel cycle helps me manage both my life and pain; it has greatly improved my physical and mental well-being."

Susie BannisterAdaptations
Susie's tricycle is equipped with several adaptations to accommodate her needs. For instance, foot fixation to keep her feet in place due to her muscle tone. She also uses a mirror to help her signal clearly and see what’s behind her, as her vertebrae problems make it difficult to turn her neck. Additionally, the design of the tricycle helps protect her sacral nerve system by preventing jolts.
