Do you doubt your balance on a bike? Do e-bikes, cargo bikes, and scooters around you make you feel insecure? Or do you react a little slower than you used to? With vanRaam’s models, cycling is always possible, because we focus on what is possible. This constantly leads to new ideas. Jolien Heeman, Director of Product Management: “If it hasn’t been invented yet, we’ll invent it ourselves.”

Fulfilling a Quiet Wish

“Everyone on a bike! That’s our dream,” says Jolien with infectious enthusiasm. “If you no longer feel completely confident on a standard bicycle or two-wheeler, we’re here to help. We make sure your quiet wish comes true: simply being able to cycle again with confidence and stay mobile, able to go wherever you want. We love giving everyone a bike that helps with the challenges you face. Preferably a bike that looks good and offers just that little bit of extra comfort. And for that, you need to be able to come up with creative solutions,” Jolien emphasizes.

We don’t just think in ideas; as soon as possible, we also test them in practice.

The Idea Factory: the Creative Workshop

Many of these solutions come from the Idea Factory, vanRaam’s creative workshop. Jolien: “The Idea Factory is our creative workspace where we try out new things to make our bikes even better, more practical, and more beautiful.

We also continue to further develop existing cycling solutions. How do we do that? It’s an ongoing exchange between our designers, craftsmen, interns, and graduates from various fields of study. They share each other’s talents and ideas. Our dealers and the cyclists themselves also play a part in this process. We don’t just think in ideas; as soon as possible, we also test them in practice. Every solution we come up with must work flawlessly in everyday life. Off the drawing board, onto the wheels with the idea.” The latest result of this approach is the Thuja, which makes the step to a tricycle logical instead of difficult.

Nice bike, where did you get it?

Jolien: “Many people keep riding a two-wheeler longer than is good for them. While comfort and safety slowly decrease, they still want to keep cycling independently. Balance issues make it more and more nerve-wracking. But admitting that things need to change isn’t easy.”

“The Thuja is a logical next step. A bike that fits who you are and how you live. It looks like a modern designer bike, without a medical appearance. No one will look at you strangely when you ride up on it. In fact, you’ll often get compliments: What a cool bike, where did you get it?”

“But the Thuja is more than just a beautiful design. The technology behind it is what truly makes it special. This tricycle is specially developed to help people stay mobile for longer, combining stability, comfort, and agility in one. So you can keep doing what you love: cycling, in your own way.”

With the Thuja, you have an innovative alternative that supports your mobility and gives you complete freedom.

A New Standard with the Thuja

Jolien: “On the Thuja, you sit just as high as on a two-wheeler, on a saddle, while still feeling very secure and stable. This is thanks to the well-thought-out interplay between the components, such as the steering of the two front wheels, the steering system, and the proportions of the frame.

“The Thuja introduces a mid-drive motor with proven technology, which ensures optimal weight distribution and contributes to stability. This motor makes the ride even more enjoyable, and you’ll notice the stability right away.”

Tailored to the Individual Cyclist

Many bicycle manufacturers have their frames produced in Asia, but vanRaam manufactures everything in their own factory in Europe. “This allows us to develop new things more quickly,” Jolien explains. “Because we control the entire process ourselves, we can adjust and optimise our bikes even better and smarter from the initial idea to the final product. This way, we can fully harness the power of innovation to create even better bikes. It also gives us the greatest control over our quality, our manufacturing process, and our delivery times.” Production at vanRaam is a showcase of the most advanced technology. Jolien: “That keeps us both competitive and sustainable. And it enables us to tailor our bikes to the customer’s needs. Every component is packed with technology and craftsmanship to make that possible.”

Because we control everything ourselves, we can fine-tune our bikes even more intelligently from concept to production. This delivers the very best result for the cyclist.

Innovation Is Not the Ultimate Goal

Coming up with innovative solutions is not a goal in itself, because at vanRaam, it’s ultimately all about keeping people moving. Jolien: “We do this from the heart, because we genuinely want people to stay fit and active on their bikes. Even when cycling doesn’t come naturally anymore, you still want to keep participating, right? For us, it’s about making sure you can go anywhere without thinking: oh, this is a bit daunting. That’s why we dream of a world where everyone can keep cycling. And if that requires completely new ideas, we’re more than happy to create and implement them.”
