Vacancy: Electrical Systems Engineer – E-bike Development
Develop and validate electrical systems for our in-house e-bike platform
At vanRaam, we develop bicycles that help people stay mobile and independent. As an Electrical Systems Engineer – E-bike Development, you’ll help shape the electrical systems behind our innovative bicycles.
You’ll translate functional and performance requirements into robust, reliable and manufacturable electrical subsystems for our in-house e-bike platform. Your work will span the full product development process, from early concepts through verification and validation to release for mass production. Working closely with colleagues, suppliers and development partners, you’ll help turn technical ideas into products that make a real difference to our customers.
Your responsibilities
Define electrical system requirements and translate them into clear, detailed technical specifications.
Specify electrical interfaces, communication protocols such as CAN and BLE, and overall system behavior.
Coordinate technical development with external suppliers and engineering partners.
Review supplier designs and ensure they meet functional, performance and quality requirements.
Develop verification and validation plans, and carry out laboratory and vehicle testing.
Analyze test data, identify root causes and drive technical improvements.
Support EMC, electrical safety and regulatory compliance activities.
Create and maintain technical documentation, specifications and design records.
Collaborate with software, mechanical, electronics and manufacturing engineers throughout the development process.
Support industrialization and production by resolving technical issues and improving designs.
What you’ll bring
You’re an enthusiastic engineer who combines analytical thinking with a hands-on approach. You enjoy solving complex technical challenges and turning concepts into reliable products. You also bring:
A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline
Around 3–5 years of experience developing electromechanical products or systems
A strong interest in e-mobility, cycling technology or medical devices
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
A structured way of working, with a focus on quality and documentation
A practical mindset and enthusiasm for building and testing prototypes
A pragmatic approach: practical where possible, thorough where needed
Good written and spoken English. Dutch language skills are an advantage
It’s a plus if you have
Experience with electric vehicles, e-bikes or battery systems
Knowledge of CAN, CANopen or other industrial communication protocols
Experience with EMC or electrical safety testing
Experience with requirements management or systems engineering
Experience working with suppliers on international development projects
Experience using Python, MATLAB or other scripting tools for test automation
Familiarity with functional safety or risk analysis
