When purchasing a new Van Raam recumbent tricycle, the Van Raam dealer sets the bike to the customer's height. If you would like to adjust the bike afterwards, you can follow the steps in this article and the video below. If you cannot adjust your Easy Sport or Easy Sport Small yourself, please contact your Van Raam dealer.

Adjusting the length of the recumbent tricycle

To determine the correct length of the Easy Sport and Easy Sport Small recumbent tricycle, the rider sits on the tricycle with one foot on the pedal in the outermost position. Adjust the sitting position so that your leg is stretched but still relaxed. You determine the most comfortable position in practice. The seating position is set by adjusting the frame length to the correct distance. To do this, follow these steps:

    6. Put the front wheel in a straight position and use a spanner to tighten the bolt of the steering rod [A].

Make sure that the front frame is not extended beyond the mark [F]. Otherwise, the inner tube will not protrude deep enough into the frame. While clamping the frame tube, the frame clamps must be tightened at least 1 cm from the tube end. A good indication of this is when the marking sticker [E] is fully visible.

Chain tension of the recumbent tricycle

The standard Van Raam recumbent tricycle is equipped with a derailleur. This ensures that after adjusting the length of the bike, the chain does not need to be re-tensioned. However, the range of this is limited. If more chain length is needed to properly position the derailleur, or more adjustment range is needed, adjust the chain tensioner roller for this or have the chain lengthened. Read more about this in the manual of the respective bike. The manual can be found on the product page of the Easy Sport or Easy Sport Small.

My Easy Sport tricycle and I are like Cinderella and her glass slipper, it is a perfect match! It took a while before we got to know each other, but it was worth it. Because I have a balance problem from birth, I was never able to cycle on a normal bike with two wheels. Driving and running is fine but cycling on a bike with two wheels did not work.

User experience recumbent trike Easy Sport - Gitty Verbaal
I have been happy with my Easy Sport from Van Raam for 6 years now. Before that, I always cycled on a conventional two-wheel bike with coaster brake. Unfortunately, that changed eight years ago. I got more and more pain in my joints and cycling was more and more difficult. The moment of realisation came when I fell with my bike. This happened right in front of a car. The driver wasn’t happy with this and it became clear to me that cycling was no longer possible in this way.
