8 differences between the FunTrain duo bike trailer 2 and 1

The FunTrain 2 duo bike trailer is the second generation FunTrain from Van Raam. This duo bike trailer has been designed with several significant improvements compared to its predecessor. Discover the 8 differences between the FunTrain 2 and 1 and its predecessor in this article.

1. Design

The FunTrain 2 boasts an attractive appearance with a modern and sleek design, featuring black accents on components such as the hub, rims, and handlebars. As standard, the bike is available in the matte turquoise blue color (RAL 5018), but there are also optional colors available. Additionally, moving parts, such as the chain guard, are shielded, which not only enhances the bike's safety but also emphasizes its appealing design. The FunTrain 2 also has wide bicycle tires with an excellent puncture-resistant rating.

2. Ergonomics

The ergonomics of the Van Raam FunTrain 2 duo bike trailer have been thoroughly researched and optimized based on feedback from our customers, Van Raam dealers, and our own staff. The handlebar has been redesigned and carefully positioned to promote a natural and relaxed posture.

But that's not all! The seat of the FunTrain 2 has also been adjusted for ultimate comfort. The seating position and seat depth are adjustable, allowing you to cycle in the ideal position.

3. Basket

With the FunTrain 2, the basket is standardly placed at the front of the bike. This provides a good view of groceries and other valuable items. During a short break while cycling, you can comfortably remain seated and easily retrieve some food and drinks from the basket. Optionally, a luggage rack can also be added to the rear of the seats for placing a pannier.

The basket volume of the FunTrain 2 is comparable to that of its predecessor, where the basket was located at the back of the bike.

 4. Seat

The Van Raam FunTrain 2 is equipped with an improved seat compared to the seat(s) of its predecessor. The ergonomically designed seat offers more comfort and support while cycling. The backrest is made of breathable and water-resistant nylon mesh, providing full back support.

The seating surface is water-repellent and resistant to various weather conditions. Additionally, both the seating position and depth can be adjusted, allowing them to be tailored to the individual needs of the rider and passenger.

Did you know?

Did you know that the FunTrain 2 is very maintenance-friendly? With a convenient automatic chain tensioning system, the chains are kept taut. Moreover, the seating surface of the duo bike trailer seats is easy to remove and clean.

5. Support Wheel

When the FunTrain is disconnected from the Fun2Go, it can be moved thanks to the support wheel. Both the FunTrain 1 and the FunTrain 2 have a foldable support wheel as an essential component, but there are notable differences between these two models. The swivel wheel of the FunTrain 2 has a sturdier construction with a larger wheel. As a result, the FunTrain is even easier to move and thus to store.

6. Drive

The FunTrain 2 duo bike trailer has its own gear system that can be operated independently of the Fun2Go duo bike. Both passengers ride in the same gear by default, which can be preset using a twist grip located on the front of the FunTrain. Optionally, it is possible to opt for a double 8-speed hub. In the FunTrain 1, both cyclists had to ride in a fixed gear (freewheel).

7. Parking Brake

The parking brake on the FunTrain 2 has been significantly improved compared to the FunTrain 1. Instead of a support wheel with a brake, the FunTrain 2 uses a parking brake that locks the rear wheels. The lever of the parking brake on the FunTrain 2 can be operated just as easily as the parking brake on the Fun2Go 2 duo bike.

8. Options and Accessories

The FunTrain 2 duo bike trailer from Van Raam offers several new options and accessories, including a luggage frame for a pannier, fixation vest, and seat trousers. Additionally, a universal plug-in adapter is possible at the back of the bike. With this, you can easily switch between various options, such as a holder for a foldable walker. Improved options and accessories, such as a rotatable seat, foldable footplate, and armrests, are also available for the FunTrain 2.
