Customer experience Easy Rider tricycle - Dieter Begemann

14 days. 536 kilometres. Stages of 40 to 50 kilometres a day. Dieter Begemann cycled from Lake Garda to Venice and back on his Easy Rider. The idea for the journey first took shape in the early 2000s, but health problems made it seem out of reach for a long time. In September 2025, it finally happened.
To Venice on the Easy Rider tricycle
How Dieter Begemann made his dream a reality
During an Alpine crossing on the way to Greece, Dieter had found himself wondering where the River Etsch, which rises in the Alps, actually ends up. That question grew into a plan: to follow the river, known in Italy as the Adige, all the way to Venice. Twenty years later, the plan took on a different shape. Dieter developed polyneuropathy, which made walking increasingly difficult. Cycling, which had always been part of his daily life, was no longer the same.
To stay mobile, Dieter switched to a custom-adapted Easy Rider tricycle. The bike quickly became part of his everyday routine: running errands, getting to physiotherapy, and longer rides at weekends. His confidence grew, and with it, so did the dream.
Cycling along the Adige
In September 2025, the time had come. Dieter and his partner cycled the route in stages of 40 to 50 kilometres a day, starting and finishing at Lake Garda. In fourteen days, they covered 536 kilometres together. "Along the way, we really took the time to enjoy the landscape along the Adige. The electric pedal assist meant I could cycle comfortably, and we could easily charge the batteries overnight at the hotel, so we were ready to go again each morning."

Looking out over the city from Lido di Venezia and having a cappuccino at St Mark's Square were real highlights.
With a tailwind towards your goal
"And then I was there," says Dieter. "Looking out over the city from Lido di Venezia and having a cappuccino at St Mark's Square were real highlights. This trip was more than I could have hoped for. The pedal assist helped me manage my energy across the whole journey. I saw so much and enjoyed every moment. I realised that with the right support, more is possible than you think. The fact that I actually made it to Venice is genuinely down to the stability and reliability of the Easy Rider tricycle."
There are already new plans in the making. "Right now, I'm using my Easy to recover after a hip operation. Cycling regularly does me good. It gets me outside and keeps me moving, something to look forward to every time."
